A Brief History

Cross Timbers Free Will Baptist Church is located in the Bellevue community of Nashville, Tennessee, at 201 Cross Timbers Drive. As an evangelical church, our purpose is to point people to Jesus Christ as the focus of their lives.

Our church was organized as Bellevue Free Will Baptist Mission on January 17, 1971, with 29 people in attendance. Jack Stone served as the church’s first pastor. Services were held in the Bellevue United Methodist Church. In July of 1974 the church purchased three lots in the Cross Timbers community for $13,200. By borrowing $65,000 from First American Bank, the congregation built the sanctuary and classroom space. Over the years, the membership, outreach, and staff of the church has grown. In 1997 the church built an educational wing and fellowship hall. While the congregation has been served by a number of ministers over the years, the backbone of the church has been provided by diligent volunteers, giving of themselves in the service of Christ.
